Warehouse rooftop solar installed in phases to maintain operations while cutting demand charges.

Project summary

Taayo partnered with Mesa Ridge School District to design and install a phased, multi-site solar program that reduced operating costs, improved energy resilience, and supported long-term sustainability goals — all without disrupting school operations.

Project Overview

When a district operates across multiple buildings, energy costs quickly become one of the largest recurring line items. Mesa Ridge wanted a solar program that wasn’t just “installed,” but strategically phased, performance-verified, and easy to maintain long-term.

Taayo’s team delivered a district-wide rollout built around reliability, safety, and predictable savings.

The Challenge

School districts have unique energy and operational constraints. Mesa Ridge needed to reduce costs without interrupting daily learning, while also preparing for the district’s growth and electrification roadmap.

Key challenges included:

  • High daytime demand across classrooms, cafeterias, gyms, and admin buildings.

  • Different roof types and ages across the 12 campuses.

  • Strict safety and scheduling needs, limiting construction windows.

  • Budget predictability requirements for multi-year planning.

  • A need for clear performance reporting for public accountability.
